The first on-device AI photo editor for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Axiem Systems Launches Axiem AI Photo Editor, the First On-Device AI Photo Editor for iPhone, iPad and Mac

Free app for iPhone, iPad and Mac lets anyone edit photos by describing changes in plain language, create images from text, and remove unwanted objects, with every AI feature processed locally and working fully offline

— Axiem Systems, the independent app studio behind Photo Editor- and the viral 2017 hit Notch Remover, today announced Axiem AI Photo Editor, the first on-device AI photo editor for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Every AI feature — prompt-based editing, text-to-image creation and object removal — runs on the device itself: photos are never uploaded to a server, edits work without an internet connection, and there is no account to create.

Most popular AI photo tools send a user's pictures to remote servers for processing and ask them to sign up first. Axiem AI Photo Editor takes the opposite approach. The AI model ships inside the app and does all of its work on the device itself, so personal photos — family pictures, kids, documents, travel shots — stay where they were taken. The app's App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected."

"People shouldn't have to choose between powerful AI and keeping their photos private," said a spokesperson for Axiem Systems. "We've been building photo apps for the iPhone since 2010, and this is the one we've wanted to make for years. You type what you want, the AI does it right on your phone, and your photos never leave your hands. No upload, no account, no ads."

Edit the way you'd explain it

Users simply describe the edit they want — "remove the car in the background," "turn this into a watercolor," "add warm golden hour light" — and refine the result with follow-up prompts. Key features include:

  • AI Edits — describe any change in everyday language, then refine it conversationally
  • Create — generate a brand-new image from a text description
  • Clean Up — highlight anything in a photo to remove it, with the background filled in
  • Backgrounds — remove, blur or replace a background in one tap
  • Restore & Enhance — revive old photos and sharpen any shot in seconds
  • Art styles — watercolor, oil painting, anime and more, with fresh AI style ideas every day
  • Looks, Color Pop & Color Splash, plus Sharpen, Denoise and Vignette tools
  • Edit history — reuse any result as the starting point for a new edit
  • HD and Super HD output, saved straight to the photo library

Private by design, built for Apple devices

Because processing happens locally, Axiem AI Photo Editor works on a plane, off the grid, or anywhere without a connection. It contains no ads and no tracking. A native Mac app is included, and one subscription covers iPhone, iPad and Mac. The app is available in 16 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

The same engine, available to developers

The on-device engine that powers Axiem AI Photo Editor is also available for other developers to license. Through Axiem AI for Developers, iPhone, iPad and Mac apps can add prompt-based editing, image creation, object removal and one-tap background tools in a few lines of Swift — with no servers, no API keys and no per-image cloud costs. Details are at axiemsystems.com/developers.

Pricing and availability

Axiem AI Photo Editor is available now as a free download on the App Store, with interactive demos of every AI tool. AI prompts require a subscription, with a free trial available; plans start at $1.99. On-device AI requires iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later on a recent iPhone or iPad, or a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later); other devices can explore the demos.
